Stockport Homes Customer Finance Team named as Northern Housing Team of the Year

The Stockport Homes Customer Finance Team were crowned ‘Team of the Year’ at the 2025 Northern Housing Awards for their unwavering commitment to supporting customers through financial challenges. 

Held at Emirates Old Trafford on Thursday 1st May, the team were commended for their customer-centred approach, establishing them as sector leaders in collection and money advice outcomes.

Despite increasingly challenging times for residents, the Customer Finance Team stay positive and lead every interaction with empathy and understanding.

Their supportive approach to income collection led to their selection as a model landlord for the research project ‘Holding on to a Home’, where they were included in an industry recognised guide to help other social landlords improve their tenancy sustainment practices.

Continually striving to improve and adapt to new challenges, the Customer Finance Team introduced digital solutions such as intelligent automated contact with tenants, increasing their capacity to provide tailored support for more customers and resolve issues effectively. 

It's this innovation that has also allowed the team to support over 600 households transitioning to Universal Credit since April 2024 and collaborate with Stockport Council to deliver critical emergency crisis support to Stockport residents.
